Therese Kellner
The main part of Therese Kellners work consists of photographs. These images are created and developed parallel with drawing, text, video work and the construction and reconstruction of objects that also have important roles in her practice and work process.
The prerequisite for this process is the travel. She has been going back and forth from Sweden for quite a few years now. It is a exploration and journey between attachment and detachment and between the familiar and the alien, even when standing still.
Therese is interested in how the structure and geographical elements of the land affects our behaviour and cultural identities. Like how some psychological spaces only exist in certain environments and some thoughts can only be thought in certain climates. Which are the elements and truths that constitute a place, a certain dot on the map? How can those thoughts there be recorded and transferred into another geographical and cultural context? When looking at these recordings; photographic negatives or writings when the physical presence is elsewhere then the geographical location becomes less valid and instead she wants the more sensational, ephemeral and intangible qualities of the exploration to reside.
